SEMI acquires fab pubs from SMA
Date: April, 2008
Apr. 9, 2008 - SEMI has acquired the World Fab Watch database and 300mm Fab report from Strategic Marketing Associates, a year after it bought a number of publications and newsletters from the market research firm and its leader George Burns. SEMIM also will take control of the firm's Web site (scfab.com).
The two groups have collaborated for 13 years on joint marketing and sales of the World Fab Watch, including a strategic partnership in the past year to jointly share research fab activities. Burns will continue to advise and assist SEMI in fab research for the group of fab information products, including a quarterly-updated database. SEMI will also publish and distribute quarterly analysis of fab and capital spending trends by Burns in SMA's Quarterly Fab Report and SMA's monthly newsletter, International Wafer Fab News.
"World Fab Watch has been long recognized as premier source of information on semiconductor fabs globally," said Stanley Myers, president and CEO of SEMI, in a statement. "SEMI and its analyst team look forward to continuing this product and to support industry needs for valuable information on fab investment activities."
